If I had to choose one trait that I admire most about myself, I would say that it’s my resilience. No matter what comes my way, I’ll find a way to get through it. I’m a survivor through and through. I try to find the best ways to get what I need, and I do my best to be independent and self-reliant. Sometimes I end up being a little too self-reliant, but I like to think that I’m just a little too stubborn for my own good. Tenacity is in my blood, in the air I breathe, and in the soul resting in my chest.
However, that isn’t to say that I won’t pivot if a better opportunity comes my way. I’ll do whatever it takes to gain a step further towards my goals because whatever ground I can take in this battlefield of hopes and dreams, I’ll do it. As a society, we have to fight for our dreams, and I am no different. If you want something done, you’ll have to strategize and plan your routes carefully. Look to the advantages and disadvantages that your station has handed to you and find passages that grant you these opportunities. I know that journey is difficult because all of us have our struggles, some of us are handed more opportunities than others. However, I believe that success is where intentionality meets luck and opportunity. I won’t pretend that society is fair. It’s not. Merit won’t save all of us. Yet that is no reason to give in to despair, for one day we’ll meet at the gates of realized dreams. I’ll admire your tenacity, and you’ll admire mine. That is true strength and resilience.
