At Peace at the Peak

Daily writing prompt
Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?

While I adore a good visit to the beach, nothing can top the breathtaking spectacle of the mountains. The beach has its moments of splendor, like watching the waves crash against the sand or witnessing the night creeping up from behind the ocean’s veil. Yet I’d rather step atop a mountain’s peak. Staring out at the vastness of a forest from up above captures such a rapturous moment that I can hardly describe it with words. Mountains do not wield the unknown as a tool for awe as the oceans do. Mountains strike you in the heart with their sublime landscapes, opening up the eyes of the wanderer as they see lands through which they just trekked. Such is the beauty of a mountain. For this reason, I prefer the mountain’s concentrated focus at its peak. Mountains escape the blinding radiance of the city streets, offering a glimpse at pristine skies that let the night shine at its brightest, the air blow at its crispest, and the mind rest at its clearest.
