Temporal Compass

Time has a special place in my thoughts. I think about my future quite often, so much so that I have to remind myself to live in the moment sometimes. If the past, present, and future are on a line, I fluctuate between past and future like a pendulum. The past clings to my thoughts around thirty-five percent of the time, the present manages to hold my attention for around ten percent of the time, while the future clutches my mental bandwidth around fifty-five percent of the time.

The future is a web of connections that the past and present are woven together to forge. Like an endless tapestry, the known and unknown converge, building up toward an inevitable conclusion. However, the future is not to be feared nor is it to be hated. One must truly unravel one’s own temporal compass to truly become one with dissonance and order. To become truly the human one is meant to be, one must understand that light carries us into eternity. This short time one exists is chronicled in the fabric of the universe as light waves reflect from the Earth’s surface.

So, do I think looking into the future is something to be ashamed of? No, I believe looking to the future is one of the best things a person can do. To look forward with a plan and determine how you are going to execute it, that’s the surest way I know how to maintain one’s own sanity. Whilst the future holds the unknown for one to explore, I am certain that I can ascend beyond the fear that threatens to consume the quaking thoughts of my own mind.
