Passed Up Pass Times

I’d say that I’ve outgrown a few hobbies in my short lifetime so far. I think that the first hobby I outgrew would have been Bakugan or Beyblades. The main reason I stopped was because they stopped production during my childhood. So, I grew out of them because there wasn’t really anyway to buy any more of them. Another hobby that I more or less outgrew was playing with Bionicle and Hero Factory figures. Of course, I still own them, but I’m less likely to pull them out and make them fight each other.

However, all the hobbies that I’ve outgrown have evolved in some way or another. When I played with Hero Factory figures when I was younger, I would write stories alongside my brother. The stories would be sprawling narratives that featured plenty of multiversal shenanigans that in hindsight were rather convoluted. The plot had holes everywhere as though we had authorial moths devouring gaps. Yet now I write stories for fun and want to become an author for a living, so I guess the hobby mostly transmuted.

If you’ve ever had hobbies that you left behind for one reason or another or some hobbies that you rekindled, feel free to leave a comment!
