Convection

In the depths of stars lies a movement

Heat churning just above the core

Roiling rivers of radiant reflection relent

Smashing a neutron and proton into more

Photons scream out of the surface

After years of torture inside the layers

Bouncing back and forth in this circus

I call a star, that answers so many prayers

Fusion blends together Hydrogen

Into Helium, then to Carbon,

And Magnesium or Oxygen,

Till Iron and it explodes like a weapon.

Sometimes the star remains as a remnant,

Still worthwhile like a broken pendant.
