I perch myself on a moon,
Sitting as my iridescent colors swirl
Throughout my skin. Before my eyes
A gas giant looms close to its parent
Star in the sky. Each passing moment
Brings them closer and closer,
Covering the moon’s surface in a
Thin blanket of twilight before
Light is consumed by shadow.
Watching events like these connects
Me with my own body. It reminds me
Of all the little creatures that live within.
Humans, aliens, ghosts, angels, demons,
And whatever else people seem to think of.
Yet in this quiet moment,
I can only see my own beauty.
This star leaves a bright ring around
The parent planet, forming a white
Halo, a crown of majesty, that
Lasts for around an hour. Then,
Starlight emerges victorious as the
Champion, showering the moon in
Life-giving luminosity. It’s too
Bad there’s no atmosphere on this rock…
