Aloft I flew on a current of glee
High I rose for all to see
A gust of updrafts under my wings
Hell, everyone said I’d fly with kings
Yet holes bore through my feathers
My trembling hands held no tethers
Falling down your gold began to fade
While my wounded heart grew dismayed
Sinking into the sea chest full of fright
I sank deep into the realm of night
Amethyst and Azure flickers bloomed
No need for air where such beauty loomed
Yet every star sings gently in the dark
It was then I found an even fainter spark
Alone in this sea, I discovered myself
A coral reef nestled on the sea shelf.
