Born to a vampire mother and human father, Sabrina (aka Katherine) straddles the gap between the two worlds. Sabrina’s father, Ezekiel Vespera, found his daughter swaddled in cloth in the arms of her mother. As a young girl, Sabrina’s father told her tales of vampires and other supernatural beings. None of them enthralled her more than the Tale of the Divine Hunter and the Bloody Goddess. The half-vampire dreamt of becoming a vampire hunter like the ones in the stories, finding the weapons of the Church fascinating with their glitter and gleam. Still, the young girl would often wander into the night as she grew older, something that Ezekiel and Mariella Vespera (Sabrina’s stepmother) took note of.

By the time Sabrina was in elementary school, she was particularly strong for her age, so Ezekiel and Mariella urged her to become an athlete. Ezekiel watched carefully, even as Sabrina interacted with her younger brother in the house, searching for any signs of her vampiric heritage awakening. However, by the age of five, Sabrina showed no signs of her mother’s influence aside from her near limitless charm. Not even Mariella could deny that Sabrina appeared, for all intents and purposes, human. So, the family took a trip to Miami beach where Sabrina found her first love, the murky, swirling depths of the ocean.

In middle school, Sabrina joined her school’s volleyball team. As soon as she stepped onto that court, Sabrina’s life changed forever. She devoted almost all her time to becoming the best athlete she could be. While Sabrina still loved the beach, volleyball was her home. It was at this time Sabrina’s style changed from the traditional clothes Mariella gave her to the more subdued and edgy style Ezekiel often wore during her younger years. Sabrina’s friends and teammates marveled at how much the young woman trained, earning her the moniker, the goddess of volleyball. By the time she reached 8th grade, Sabrina was renowned in the state for her skill and precision.

Sabrina’s social life was rather normal. She was well-liked by her peers and was often the wildcard of the sports girls. Nobody knew when Sabrina would appear at functions, but the anticipation would always be coursing through the air like electricity. Sabrina quickly became the talk of her hometown. Everyone knew her name. Sabrina’s father was not ecstatic about how popular she was getting, especially since he knew the various supernatural threats in the area. Yet, Ezekiel chose to keep an eye on his daughter rather than restricting her freedoms. He knew what could happen to people when desires were kept pent up.

As Sabrina started high school, she started blending the styles of her father and stepmother into a new style. She began wearing dresses more often, accompanied by belts and stockings. Yet, no matter what outfit Sabrina wore, there was always some kind of leather jacket involved. Mariella tried every possible way to get Sabrina to take off the leather jackets, but Sabrina refused. The only time she wasn’t wearing one was during her volleyball games. When on the court, Sabrina was a vicious competitor. All four years of strict practice truly paid off when her team won the district championship in her sophomore year of high school.

In Sabrina’s junior year, she decided it was time to pursue something new. She began playing the guitar, mostly to pass the time in her room. Sabrina still lived and breathed volleyball, but she fell in love with the metallic melodies of metal. Each day that Sabrina lived, Ezekiel grew prouder and prouder of his daughter, forgetting for a while that his daughter was still a vampire. Everything was perfect. Then, one day, while Ezekiel and Sabrina were shopping for clothes before her senior year of high school, something strange occurred. When the total of their shopping trip did not reflect what they expected, Ezekiel asked the cashier what happened to the sale. The cashier explained that the signs for the sale were accidentally left up by the previous crew and that the discounts could not be applied. Incensed, Ezekiel tried to calmly express his irritation, but Sabrina just looked at the cashier and asked if they could get the discount. In an instant, the cashier’s eyes dilated, and the man inputted the discount without uttering a word.

Ezekiel had realized that Sabrina had inherited her mother’s charms, but it was at this particular moment that he realized just how much Sabrina inherited. Sabrina looked at the moment as a strange coincidence, ignoring the issue for the most part. At this point, the young woman had her bone white hair longer than it had ever been. Sabrina truly began to look like her mother, something that her brother didn’t ignore. One day, her younger brother asked who Sabrina’s mother was at family dinner. Sabrina was dumbfounded when she got the news that Mariella was not her actual mother. However, Ezekiel refused to tell Sabrina any information about her mother aside from the fact that she was the most beautiful being he’d ever laid eyes on.

Sabrina’s high school years ended with a national championship victory, guaranteeing her a full-ride scholarship to any school of her choosing. She dressed in her typical fashion for prom, keeping to her black aesthetic and her leather jacket. However, this was the first time that Sabrina chose a Victorian era dress to wear. While her father made no reservations, Sabrina could tell he was worried for her. Yet, Sabrina remained safe and sound all throughout high school, only getting into minor altercations with opposing volleyball players and some handsy boys.

When Sabrina moved to her university, she continued to play volleyball at an exceptional level, learned more songs on her guitar, and went out with her friends to more events. There were several karaoke nights with her teammates and other sports players. Mock volleyball games, sports events, and more were daily routine for Sabrina as she grew more involved in the campus scene.

Her first years at university were monumental. Sabrina began to gain national attention for her skills and sports analysts were convinced that she would go pro. Her peers grew jealous as the media always flocked to her side whenever the games would end. Sabrina found herself increasingly isolated and withdrew some from many of her teammates, except for the starters. By the time her senior year of university was coming to a close, her team had won the national title, and she was on the road to becoming a household name.

At this point, her notoriety caught the eyes of a transfer student named Michael, who was never in direct sunlight even in class. Sabrina had been pestered continuously about her devotion to volleyball and how much she didn’t talk to any of the sports guys. Yet Sabrina found most of them dull and boring. She wanted something more mysterious and Michael checked all the boxes. Sabrina did wonder if he checked too many boxes, but she refused to let her fears get the better of her.

When Sabrina awoke after the events of How I Became a Vampire, she found herself thirstier and colder than she had ever felt before. Sabrina wandered through the night until she collapsed to the ground on a cargo ship. Curled up in the darkness of the cargo hold, Sabrina noticed her eyes glowing a bright blue. However, as Sabrina felt her hunger growing more and more ravenous, she sank her fangs into one of the workers. With every sip, Sabrina’s body flooded with the warmth of life. Yet, Sabrina’s eyes welled up with tears as the man drew his last breath. Once Sabrina’s ship docked on the shores of the Mississippi, she fled during the early morning hours. Unlike the stories she was told, Sabrina did not turn to ash in the sun, though she did have extreme sunburns for almost two weeks.

The young woman retired to the shadows for over a year living in a relative peace. It was at this time that Katherine took up the name Sabrina as she stepped away from her former life. Sabrina drank very sparingly from the people in Louisiana, yet her power grew despite her infrequent feeding. For a time, Sabrina found herself taking it easy and relaxing until a Hunter found her feasting upon a young man. Sabrina fled from Louisiana, barely escaping the Hunter Order with her life. So, she fled to Ferran City on the Californian coast, setting up her home amongst the suburban outskirts just outside the city. Here in Ferran City, Sabrina has resided for the last two years, amassing her power in the depths of the criminal underworld to protect herself from the Hunters one way or another.
