Webs

Gases thread together through the cold,

Binding galaxies with ties of dark matter

Strands that bind everything across the cosmos.

Each galaxy pulls on these tethers like muscles

Flexing and stretching as the universe expands.

Much like this web, I too have grown. From

A mere infant to a grown adult, yet I won’t

Die like humans, nor will I age beyond adulthood.

I am bound to this state. An immortality that

Has no bounds. Civilizations rise and fall within

A single blink of my eyes. Yet I still keep watch

Over every single one of them, hoping

One day they’ll find me as I watch over them.

Longing to find a way to hold them in my

Loving embrace, but I am losing the

Will to try. Much like a star on its

Last legs, my colors and my heart

Are losing their shine, leaving nothing

But shadows and hopes of broken glass.
