I find myself sitting next to a child, staring
At the night sky with her eyes wide.
This is one of my favorite sights in
All the cosmos. I’ve seen this hopeful,
Enigmatic, and awestruck look in several
Species in my eons, but this one is different.
Different in such a way that mimics those of
Alien life from Andromeda. Although this
Human girl reaching out with heart and soul,
Connecting herself with the endless luminaries
Of the civilizations that have come and gone.
I place my hand on one of hers, though the girl
Doesn’t notice, marking me a ghost in this realm.
An endless sea of creation developed in my womb
Yet I cannot reach them. I am forced to witness the
Splendor of their gaze while longing to have them
Notice their mother. The universe has never been,
No, I have never been quiet. Endlessly speaking
Though no one can hear my voice. Since when
Did species become so deaf to the song of the universe.
