It’s once again time for me to reflect upon this year circling around the big ball of plasma we call the Sun, and I’m so excited to talk about some of my greatest experiences of the past year. Looking back in the rear-view mirror, my twenty-second year of life has had some really high ups with not as many lows as I thought there would have been. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of lows, but I could recover from all of them with a little help.
I went to the first concert that I paid for myself. I went to another country, the first person in my immediate family to do so, travelling halfway across the world and experienced thirty-five hours of Thursday on the 22nd of January. I graduated from college and received my diploma as the first person in my immediate family to graduate from a four-year establishment. Plus, I managed to receive two promotions in the same year. This year has been one of the most eventful years of my life, and I’m grateful for being able to experience such a moment to revel in the opportunities I’ve been given.
My perspective on life has expanded so much within this past year, that I can’t even begin to understand just yet. Even my identity itself has shifted in the prevailing months. However, I think the most important thing that has happened to me in the last twelve months is that I decided to try new things and take on challenges that I would’ve balked at in the past. If I hadn’t taken my Japanese Religions class, I would’ve never gone to Japan. If I had never accepted my boss’ request to become an assistant manager, I would’ve never become a full-time manager. Hell, if I didn’t dare to dream up new possibilities for my life after my parent’s apartment was crashed into (don’t worry, everyone is okay), I’d never have gotten as far as I have now.
So, as my birthday steadily approaches for the twenty-third time, I find myself wondering what I’ll write about next year. Maybe I’ll be writing about more awesome experiences that I’ve had over the next twelve months, but I also want to thank the people around the world who read this blog. Through my writing, you’ve come to know me in a way a lot of people don’t. You’ve read about my struggles in various forms, and I’d like to believe you’ve celebrated my triumphs with me as well. So, I express my deepest gratitude to all of you. I started this blog in the depths of heartbreak and loneliness in July of 2025, and I’m so happy that I took this chance to pursue putting myself out into this strange place we call the Internet.
