Oh, look at America today
She's the best, at least that's what they say.
Her beauty is unmatched
And her fingers are latched
Round the bottom of Freedom's cloak,
Seeking to capture that slippery little bloke
America watches over her people
From the top of her temple.
The cries of her children she hears,
Drawing them close to ease their fears.
America defends her children with weapons
Attacking her opponents until they learn a few lessons
Despite this narrative we've been sold
And if I could be so bold,
I'd say that the America of today
Is in a state of decay.
Her once luxurious dress is now torn and ragged,
To her skin, a few bruises have been added
Her precious children are war with one another
A battle that has bears no grace to the mother.
Figures take notes from the alleys,
Each one keeping a list of tallies.
Self-righteousness burns in the hearts of her people,
Governing the world as if they have no equal.
And at the end of the day,
That is the state of America today
And though some of you may say I'm disillusioned,
I dare you to reach a different conclusion.
Look at the country without a biased lens,
You'll see what I see because I don't play pretend.
